Step 6, Hit the Satellites

This is the 6th of 7 articles about how you can make it into the 2006 World Series of Poker main event for little or no investment. 
Your job is easier from here on in. You've built up a bankroll of somewhere between $150 and $350. Cash out everything that you can into your Neteller account, except the money you have in one or two sites that you currently enjoy playing on or are doing well at. In Step 6 you will want to mainly play at 1 or 2 sites that are currently active in World Series of Poker promotions.
Paradise Poker, UltimateBet
After withdrawing money from your accounts at the various sites, deposit 1/2 of the remaining dollars you have (not counting what you still have in the other sites) into Paradise Poker, and the other 1/2 into UltimateBet. Start concentrating heavily on the WSOP satellites at Paradise Poker, and UltimateBet. Both these sites offer excellent value for the poker player looking to actually make it to the main event this summer. When you play in the satellites, do not necessarily start at the lowest buy-in level, but on the other hand, watch your bankroll and make sure you don't spend everything you've got at any one site. You no longer have to pay attention to the 25% rule, just don't spend all your money on satellites. If you start to get low, build your bankroll back up with private freerolls and other tournaments where you've been doing well.
Paradise Poker
Paradise Poker is an extremely well-liked and trustworthy site that is now offering legitimate chances for your seat into the main event of the World Series of Poker. You should be looking seriously at their WSOP satellites. Download the software and take a look at their $15 buy-in satellites where the winners advance to the $500 buy-in Saturday event. If you narrowly miss your seat, don't worry, they give cash to you so you can try again. For example, let's say there are 64 entrants into the $15 buy-in satellite. In that case, 1st-4th will gain entry into the $500 buy-in super satellite, while 5th-7th wins $126.13, $75.67, and $50.45. The cash you might win for 5th-7th would give you at least 3 more shots at the $15 satellites. Finish high enough up in the super satellite and you go to the big dance in July/August 2006! UltimateBet Poker
UltimateBet is the other poker site you should download, deposit into, and play on. Their satellite system for the WSOP is built around tourneys with re-buys and an add-on. Play in these satellites and listen up! I'm going to tell you something that you may not have thought about yet. Seek out these re-buy and add-on tournaments and don't take the re-buys. Take the add-on at the end of the hour only if 1) the amount of chips you get is a bargain compared to the amount you get with the original buy-in AND 2) you need chips to compete comfortably. I'm going to repeat what I said about the re-buys. Don't take the re-buys. There are 2 reasons for this. 1) They aren't a bargain because you have to pay the same amount for a re-buy for the same amount of chips as you do for the original buy-in. Chips deflate in value as a tourney progresses. This is because when players bust out, the average chip count of the remaining players increases. If you start with 1,500 in chips and after a half hour, the average stack is 2,300, you should really get 2,300 chips for your re-buy money, either that or the price for a re-buy should be lower as it is in live tournaments. 2) The types of players that are attracted to R & A tourneys are looser and wilder (that is they are loose and wild as long as the re-buy period lasts, which is usually one hour.) This makes for a lucrative tournament over the long run for you and me. Let others build up the prize fund for you. Take advantage of loose and wild play by playing tighter and with common sense during the first hour.
Apply the rebuy and addon strategy I mention above, not only for the UltimateBet WSOP satellites, but for all your other bankroll building tournaments also. Practically every site I recommend in Steps 1 thru 6 host R & A tournaments. You'll get your share of prize money if you play in enough of them.
