Online Poker Sites Allowing Your Dream to Come True!!!

July 28, 2005-- by Paul Svelmoe

This is the first of about 6 articles to come about how you can make it into next year's World Series of Poker main event for little or no investment. I am going to give you a step-by-step approach, the first 2 steps in today's article, with more articles to come about once a week. But first, let's analyse the situation.

Online poker is in a boom stage, (as is live poker in Las Vegas and around the world). Most, if not all of the well-run poker sites are making a lot of money from both tournament entry fees and raked games (also known as cash games or ring games). However, the folks that run these poker sites are well aware of their competition, recognizing the fact that in order to ride this boom to the fullest possible extent, they are going to need to offer something to attract new players and something to keep their existing players happy, while at the same time, assuring they still make a profit. The number one way they attract attention is by offering deposit bonuses. The 2nd way that online poker rooms attract new business and keep current players playing is by offering freerolls and cheaprolls. A freeroll is a poker tournament, usually a no-limit poker tournament, with no buy-in, but which offers cash prizes, sometimes significant cash prizes. I have played in freerolls with prize funds of $20,000 and more. A cheaproll is a poker tournament offered with a very low buy-in, such as a $1.10, but the prize money given out is far greater than the amount the online poker room takes in. You will be taking advantage of these promotions as your 1st step in the process of freerolling or cheaprolling your way to the 2006 World Series of Poker.

Step 1

There are 2 parts to Step 1. Each part highlights one particular online poker site. Both poker sites mentioned in this step provide a unique type of opportunity to build a bankroll. You need to build a large enough bankroll so that in later steps, you can use the money from that bankroll to buy your way into satellites to the WSOP. A satellite is a qualifying event. The prize fund of a satellite is an entry into a larger event. Some satellite tournaments offer a seat or seats to bigger satellites. Almost every poker site I mention in these step-by-step articles offer satellites of one type or another to the World Series of Poker. This doesn't mean that I recommend playing in those satellites. Not yet. The early steps of these articles are geared towards building your bankroll quickly and efficiently so that you can have a maximum amount of money to set aside for WSOP satellites. Once you have a small bankroll built from the processes you use in Step 1, you can and should move on to Step 2, although many of you might be tempted to stay put right here in Step 1, finding that the money is fairly easy to be made and that you figure you might as well continue doing what's easy. This is fine if your goal is to just build a poker bankroll, but if you really want a seat into the main event of the WSOP, you will do well to move on.

Dream Poker (part 1)

Start out by downloading from Dream Poker and playing in their numerous freerolls (especially Sunday and Wednesday). Out of all the online poker sites you'll read about, one of the most outstanding, and the one I recommend you start out with, is Dream Poker. At this site, you absolutely can't go wrong. A member of a fine poker network (the Prima network of poker sites), the software is excellent and the promotions are plentiful. Click on the banner below or click here to read more about Dream Poker. Note: If you are a U.S. player and live in one of the following 7 states, please skip to part 2 as Dream Poker no longer accepts players from these states, due to possible pending legislation regarding online gambling: Illinois, Nevada, Indiana, Washington, Wisconsin, Louisiana, and Missouri.

Titan Poker (part 2)

The 2nd poker site you should definitely download right now is Titan Poker, mainly because of the private tournaments they offer. If you don't feel comfortable making a deposit at a poker site yet, Titan is a great choice because the money you win at Titan Poker's freerolls is real money, not bonus money, unlike some sites that offer freerolls. ...and read more about Titan Poker here. Pay close attention to what I have to say about the private tournaments. These online poker tournaments will offer you a chance to play against far fewer opponents than the normal regularly scheduled tourneys. Do not neglect this important part of your journey.

During Step 1, after you've built up a small amount of real money in your accounts, only use this money to 1) Buy into tournaments that are bargains and/or 2) Play no-limit cash games (sometimes known as ring games).
