Vahedi Triumphs
The 2nd annual Ultimate Poker Challenge at the Plaza in downtown Las Vegas finished up with a well-deserved win by one of poker's most colorful characters.
The ever-smiling Amir Vahedi of Israel won the event.
Well, in a short flash it was over!!! The moments going from 3 players to one winner was quick!! In a matter of not more than 20 minutes, the game was over. The 3rd place finisher busted out, then in the heads up the end came quick. Amir had over $1 million in chips and Chip Jett had just over $400K. After a few small skirmishes back and forth, Chip raised with A5, Amir went all in with pocket kings, Chip called, the flop was Qc, 6s, 7s,
We interviewed the warm and friendly Amir (left, accepting bracelet) informally and when asked how poker became a part of his life, he replied that he'd started as a used car dealer who played in the pits at Hollywood Park, BlackJack, etc. After losing a lot of money, he realized as an intelligent person, that with poker, there could be a slight edge for the player and he wanted it! With great skill and a beaming smile, he's used that edge to win. Congratulations for a tournament well done!!!
