Spadavecchia Captures WSOPC
Out of 209 players that started Mon. May 8, 2006, the final table of 9 battled it out intensely at Caesars Palace and when all was said and done it came down to 2 crucial pots where John Spadavecchia overcame the formidable QQ twice, first against Bill Baxter, eliminated in 5th place, when John's pocket 6's improved to a set on the turn, then against Ralph Perry, eliminated in 3rd place when John's K9 caught a K on the flop. Runner-up was Sean McCabe, chip leader going into the final table, but plagued by a 3-1 chip deficit heads up against Spadavecchia.

First Day Over 600 players!!
Poker is still alive and better than ever here in Las Vegas. On Apr 28, 600+ players showed up for the opening tournament of this multi-tourney event to compete for over $300,000 in prize money. Second chance tournaments with a buy-in of $200 + $25 have been running every night at 7:00 PM, with over 200 participants showing up on a slow Tuesday eve (May 2). A senior tournament (50 and older) that started on May 2 with 131 players was still going on after 10:00 at night and was down to the final table. Single table sit'n'go satelllites for all budgets (from $35) are going continuously. Win tournament tickets for the bigger events and/or cash. Caesars Palace is the place to be! See the full schedule below.

Both areas are bustling with activity during the World Series of Poker Circuit event. High stakes cash games, like the one Ted Forrest is pictured in above, are held on a slightly staged platform, and are part of the 30 table live game area. Also playing high stakes cash games on May 2, 2006 were Mike "the mouth" Matusow, Michael "the grinder" Mizrachi and Marcel Luske, with his upside-down sunglasses.
