Binions Horseshoe was the home of the World Series of Poker from 1970 through 2005, with the 2005 event being held partially at Harrah’s Rio Pavillion and beginning in 2006 the entire WSOP event. Harrah's Entertainment owns the WSOP name and have expanded the trademark name to include many other events around the U.S. known as the World Series of Poker Circuit Tour.

Binion's (formerly Binion's Horseshoe) therefore must have felt the need to fill the void left when the WSOP left for bigger living quarters. See the complete schedule of events here.
