BetFred Poker
BetFred is a popular online poker site in Europe, which is a bonus if you are from the U.S. or anywhere in the same time zones as the U.S. In fact, if you work during the day and have time for online poker in the evenings, you will really find tournament bargains at BetFred because they don't fill up with the maximum number of players like the prime-time or morning/early afternoon tourneys at Titan Poker. This is because when it is prime time evening hours where you live, it is the wee hours of the morning in Europe. Also, if you're in a U.S. time zone and you can play in the late morning or early afternoon, you'll find bargains during those hours too, because although the tournaments do fill up, the Europeans are experiencing their prime-time hours and that is when BetFred offers the biggest paying tournaments which as I've mentioned are not available on Titan Poker. Your goal at BetFred is to play in their outstanding tournaments, starting with freerolls and when you have a little bit of a bankroll from your winnings, to start playing in small buy-in events that don't break the 25% rule. Once you feel comfortable on BetFred, make a minimum deposit and play in their $1.00 + .10 $500 guaranteed TURBO events at 3:30 PM eastern time or whatever event they have that costs $1.00 + .10 that allows re-buys. It's important to play in the tourneys that allow re-buys. These tourneys are going to be one of your main bankroll builders during the next couple weeks or so. Why? Because you are NOT going to take the re-buys or the add-on at the end of the hour. Why not? Because they are a bad buy. They give you no extra value for your money because you only get the same number of chips for the same price as what you started with. As the tourney progresses, the average chip stack of the remaining players goes up. Therefore the value of the chips has deflated. The re-buy & add-on tournaments attract a certain type of player and you are the opposite of that type of player. The average player can't wait to get all his/her money into the pot and this type of player doesn't think about value when he/she goes busto and then rebuys for more chips. Let the other players build up the prize fund for you and when you do survive the first hour (the re-buy period), you will have invested only $1.10 and the other players will have invested an average of $3.10, $3.00 of which goes into the prize fund. If you stick to this type of tournament and play a lot of them, you'll eventually make a killing.
