Playing in the 2007 WSOP
The 2007 WSOP plans to outdo itself with an unprecedented 55 Events. The World Series of Poker will offer a variety of poker variants available to be played in a wide range of buy-in denominations.
The easiest way to play at the 2007 WSOP would be to directly buy-in. Buy-ins range from $1,000 to $50,000, with the No-Limit Texas Holdem Main Event costing $10,000 to enter. There are other ways to get to the WSOP. The most popular being satellite tournaments. Satellite tournaments offer players a chance to win a seat for a minimal cost. Satellite tournaments are offered in online casinos as well as land casinos. Satellite tournaments can be cheap or they can be expensive, either way, they are not an easy ticket to the main event of the WSOP. The easiest ticket to the main event of the WSOP is to pay the 10K to enter.
There are two ways to play in the WSOP for free, but neither of them are easy.
The first free way is to win a seat through a freeroll. A freeroll is a tournament, normally played in Texas Holdem format, offered by online and land casinos as a promotion to VIPs and new sign-ups. A freeroll is absolutely free to play. It's a chance to win a $10,000 seat in the WSOP where a player then has a chance to win millions of dollars. Although many players have entered the WSOP through a freeroll, no one has ever won the main event. Still, these tournaments are extremely popular. It is not hard to imagine why a free tournament offering a seat in the WSOP would be extremely popular. Since they're so popular, they are hard to win.
Another way to play in the WSOP for free is to find a sponsor. Players who are sponsored do not have to pay for buy-ins. The company that sponsors a player will cover the buy-in in exchange for whatever contractual agreement they have. Often, players in televised tournaments will have to wear clothes from the company they sponsor. Most poker sponsors are online poker rooms like Full Tilt or Poker Stars. Most poker professionals are sponsored. The best way to get a sponsor is to finish well, or at least make a name for yourself, in a televised tournament. Not the easiest thing to do.
