New Poker Room at Planet Hollywood
by Mike Greenberg
Planet Hollywood (formerly the Aladdin) is a nice-looking new poker room located at the Las Vegas Strip near the front entrance to the casino. The poker room offers 12 tables with a variety of Texas Holdem games, and Omaha - if there is any interest. It has become an increasingly popular venue and it's is starting to get a bit crowded on weekends, but you’ll usually be able to get a table within 30 minutes.
Compared to the largest casinos, Planet Hollywood is quite a laid-back and comfortable environment - the plush chairs will allow you to sit back and observe as the poker games are played out in front of you. Most importantly however, are the very knowledgeable and friendly dealers who can sort out almost any situation that might arise.
One of the details that make Planet Hollywood stand out from the crowd is the presence of one Michael "The Grinder" Mizrachi. You can play against "The Grinder" – and collect the $300 bounty on his head – in one of the special no limit Texas Holdem tournaments held Sundays through Fridays at Planet Hollywood. The entry fee to these tournaments is $110 for $1,500 in chips plus an optional $10 add-on for an additional $1,000 in chips. Aside from the tournaments featuring "The Grinder" there are multiple tournaments available every day, including a special "Ladies Night" tournament every Tuesday. You’ll find all sorts of players in this poker room, but the average player is probably a tourist just looking for a good time at the tables.
If you need a tutorial on how to play Texas Holdem, the poker room provides free lessons at 10:00 AM every weekday. In all, Planet Hollywood’s poker room provides good service and a relaxing atmosphere. You can tell that the management has the players' interests in mind, as the staff are friendly and courteous, and they will do their best to try to get you seated as soon as possible .
